A Little Backstory...
With over 20 years of experience in the cosmetology industry, and 12 years specializing in curly hair, Iāve gained extensive knowledge about textureāknowledge that was never taught in hair school.
Many clients come to the salon requesting a haircut and style that allows them to embrace their natural texture every day, only to leave with smooth, sleek hair they struggle to replicate at home. This common issue typically arises from two main factors:
- Miscommunication during the initial consultation
- Stylists lacking the necessary skills to properly work with textured hair
In my experience, textured hair requires a different approach, both in terms of technique and understanding. It's not just about cutting or styling; it's about knowing how to read the hairās unique pattern and texture, and adjusting your methods to ensure the client can recreate their look at home with confidence.
Many stylists still believe that people with curly hair want to wear it straightāthis stems from eurocentric beauty standards that I often talk about. However, from years of working behind the chair, I can tell you that this simply isnāt true. If clients had the right guidance on how to work with their natural hair patterns, 9 out of 10 would proudly wear their natural curls. This is where you, as a beauty professional, can step in and make a real difference.
The education I provide could easily fill an entire chapter in cosmetology textbooks. Iāve developed curl-specific training designed specifically for professional hairstylists, creating a pathway to higher income and greater confidence when working with natural textures. The outcome is clear: increased client satisfaction, higher retention rates, and more referrals.
The initial feedback from my hands-on training sessions and online courses has been incredibly inspiring. The responses Iāve received have me genuinely excited about the future of the curly hair community and the talented stylists who are committed to mastering it.
Below, you'll find an overview of my qualifications, as well as details on the classes Iām currently offering, both online and in-person.
